Mentor Catalyst

As an entrepreneur, analyst, and consultant my work has been the application of technology to solve complex business problems. Currently, my focus is on helping small and medium-sized businesses manage and grow their businesses. Our solutions combine hardware, software, and business services specific to the needs of our clients.

My career has spanned the growth of the Internet. From working in a warehouse configuring servers in the middle of a Chicago summer to managing projects for some of the biggest companies and organizations my early career was diverse and varied.

In 2000 I started my own software and consulting firm, JigZaw Inc, in Chicago and raised a small round of angel funding. In 2005 I moved from Chicago to the Bay Area. In San Francisco I ran conferences, wrote, consulted and worked on a variety of startups. After a few startups that did not launch, in 2014 I joined Coupons.com (later renamed Quotient Technologies) as a senior project manager. I am working on a new startup that bundles software and services for small to medium-sized businesses.

In 2005 I co-organized the first MeshForum in Chicago, a conference on the study of networks. We held a second MeshForum in 2006 in San Francisco and followed that conference with a series of one day MeshWalk events. These events brought together an interdisciplinary group of experts from academia, industry and the government. Podcasts of the conferences have been used in classrooms and heard by 1000’s of people.

An active networker and event organizer, I have founded and organized multiple monthly networking events in Chicago and San Francisco. As well I have facilitated and organized many Open Space events including BarCamps and Hackathons.

As a new startup ourselves, we follow our own advice, and will only be taking on eight (8) startups to join our first Startup Circle.

To get started, we offer a free assessment to qualifying startups. Should we both determine that Mentor Bureau has the right experience and the right talents for your specific needs, we will determine our planned areas of focus and begin working together.
